It is estimated that 27% of British adults regularly skip a healthy breakfast everyday. Usually substitutes to this could be a cup of coffee and perhaps a sugar loaded breakfast bar to take on the way to work. When our bodies don’t have the proper nutrition they won’t function their best, and your body hasn’t received any sort of nutrition for roughly 14 hours.
As we all know eating a healthy breakfast is an essential start to stay focused through the day, in fact eating breakfast raises your metabolism by as much as 10%. A healthy breakfast also provides us with increased concentration. Whether it’s due to the fact that people claim to not have enough time for breakfast or they just don’t feel like eating so early, here are some terrific tips to get you motivated to eat a regular and healthy breakfast.
Plan the night before – This takes the stress and rush out of trying to find something in the morning when you may have overslept or have a limited amount of time to get ready – some easily prepared breakfasts include a grapefruit sliced in half and placed in the fridge and enjoy first thing in the morning. Or fry some sausages the night before then in the morning reheat with some toast and you will be set till lunch – the protein in the sausages will reserve energy longer than just eating carbohydrates.
Get fruity – Investing in a smoothie machine will help you get a great start to the day by having 1 of your 5 a day and will give you that energy you desperately need without having to resort to coffee straight away. Use bananas, milk (or water) and another fruit of your choice, blend in the smoothie machine and enjoy. This idea is particularly useful for people who don’t want to eat something solid first thing in the morning.
Be creative – It can be discouraging having to force down a piece of toast or a bowl of porridge every morning, try having a different breakfast every day and prepare the basics the night before. Some creative ideas for a nutritious breakfast include having a tortilla wrap, spreading peanut butter on and wrapping around in banana, then you can cut into chunks or half it, the kids will also love this and it is packed with slow releasing energy to keep them and you filled till lunch.
